How to find the place

The Oregon Trail International VROC Rally, which is also the Wolfman's Wandering Rally for 2008, will be held in Charleston, Oregon, July 17-20.

Charleston is on Coos Bay, on the southern Oregon Coast. The town is west of Hwy 101. How you get there depends on what direction you are coming from.

Here's some links to maps of the area:

If you are looking for the Captain John's motel, you will find it at 63360 Kingfisher Drive. Their website has specific directions to the motel. http://www.captainjohnsmotel.com/ This will be the main rally motel, and is easy to find in the center of Charleston.
If you are staying in other motels or campgrounds, try Yahoo maps or Mapquest.
As you can see in the maps, the towns of Coos Bay and North Bend are northeast of Charleston, on Hwy 101 (Oregon Coast Hwy).

The Beach House

The Beach House is across the parking lot from the Captain John's Motel. Although the Captain John's is the "official" rally motel, your rally organizer (that's me!) will be staying at the Beach House with about a dozen other VROCers. The Beach House has a large grassy area, a big deck, a good sized living room area and kitchen. The campfire will be on the beach here (if fire danger conditions permit). This will be the social center for the rally, rain or shine. The "Trading Post" will also be set up here, if you are interested in buying some of Piper's VROC items. Come on over to the Beach House whenever you're in the mood to socialize!

Thursday July 17

Sherm has made arrangements to reserve a banquet room at 6 pm at the Lucky Dragon Buffet in North Bend. Those choosing to go may order Mongolian barbeque or sushi bar, or opt instead for the Chinese buffet at $13.95 (no additional tax). Please indicate when you sign in at the rally if you plan to go with the group. The restaurant manager would like a head count.

We have no formal time to go, do whatever works best for you if you choose to go. This is the recommended choice for Friday, especially if you want to try some local seafood!

Saturday July 19

Restaurant of your choice with friends of your choice (or strangers if you like them better). Alternate if weather permits: fried chicken, chips and watermelon at the Beach House.

We will be trying to get an idea by Saturday morning if there is interest in the picnic at the Beach House, so please be prepared to have an opinion.

Campfire on the beach at the Beach House if conditions permit. We will also have wedding cake for DD and Pebbles Saturday evening at the Beach House, so be sure to come over and party!
